Child younger than 2 years old cannot take this medicine. Alcoholic beverages should not be consumed during treatment, because it may cause adverse effects. Do not take together with grapefruit or bitter orange juice because they may increase the adverse effects of this medication. Pregnant or breast-feeding women should not take this medication without consulting their doctor. Dextromethorphan acts directly on the "Cough Center" preventing it from appearing and eliminating it.

It is intended to control, prevent, and avoid the mechanism responsible for coughing.​

Ingredients

Each ml of syrup contains: 2 milligrams of dextromethorphan as the active ingredient. The other ingredients (excipients) are sodium methyl p-hydroxybenzoate (E-219), propylene glycol, liquid glucose, fructose, citric acid monohydrate, honey flavor, purified water, quinoline yellow color (E-104), red color Ponceau 4R (E-124). 

Instructions

Follow the instructions exactly as mentioned in the leaflet or as indicated by your doctor or pharmacist.

Adults and adolescents older than or 12 years of age: Can take 5 to 10 ml depending on the intensity of the cough, every 4 hours if necessary but do not exceed 6 doses in 24 hours. This medication can also be taken 15 ml every 6 or 8 hours if necessary but the maximum amount that can be taken in 24 hours is 60 ml divided into several doses. 

Uses in children

Children between 6-11 years: Can take 2.5 to 5 ml depending on the intensity of the cough, every 4 hours if necessary but do not exceed 6 doses in 24 hours. This medication can also be taken 7.5 ml every 6 or 8 hours if necessary but the maximum amount that can be taken in 24 hours is 30 ml divided into several doses. 

Children between 2-5 years: Can take 1.25 to 2.5 ml depending on the intensity of the cough every 4 hours if necessary but do not exceed 6 doses in 24 hours. This medication can also be taken 3.75 ml every 6 or 8 hours if necessary but the maximum amount that can be taken in 24 hours is 15 ml divided into several doses. 

Children younger than 2 years old: cannot take this medicine.

Bicasan syrup is administered orally and can be taken with or without food. To take the correct amount of this medicine, use the measuring spoon (1.25 - 2.5 - 5 ml) included in the package. After each feeding, wash the measuring spoon.
